Los Angeles Light Festival Griffith Park Annual Drive-Thru


Los Angeles --  Annual Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Griffith Park Holiday Light Festival is a  display of lights spanning a mile of Crystal Springs Drive. It  is a holiday tradition that attracts more than 500,000 visitors annually. Dec. 7 -17 Vehicle Free Light Festival. Time: 5-10 p.m. Dec. 18 -30 Car Drive Thru. Time: 5-10 p.m. The Annual Holiday Lights Festival in Griffith Park, once primarily a drive-thru event seen by car, has switched gears. In 2009 the event began to offer "walk-through only" nights. Park in the LA Zoo lot and walk about one mile during this event.  In addition to the walk-only nights, the event became lit by energy-saving LED light bulbs.  During Bike Night  bicycle riders are invited to cruise through, while traditional driving of cars occurs through from Dec. 18-30.Pedestrians may still walk on a path during this time. Zoo parking lot or the parking lots on the south side of the festival near the Merry-Go-Round, or the lots near the pony rides. Parking will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Walkers are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and to dress warmly to walk the full one-mile route each way.

To celebrate vehicle free nights, there will be an educational mini fair area December 5, 6 & 7 for all to enjoy, featuring information on family activities, healthy nutrition, as well as some tasty treats.

The driving route, walking and shuttles all run December dates. Shuttle buses will be available weekends. Walkers on these days will enjoy the walking path. To drive through the Light Festival:
Exit the Golden State Fwy. (5) at Los Feliz. Go west on Los Feliz and turn right onto Crystal Springs Drive and proceed to the entrance of the Light Festival. To view the Light Festival by foot on the walking path, park at the L.A. Zoo.


To Walk:
Park on the south side of the L.A. Zoo parking lot and proceed down the walking path along Crystal Springs Drive. Pedestrian visitors should dress warmly.

Shuttle (Zoo Parking Lot )

Thanks to the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, a shuttle bus will depart continuously

Festival visitors will enjoy significantly less wait times and traffic congestion during weekday visits, Monday through Thursday.
